I was browsing my regist...
I was browsing my registry attemting to shut off unnecessary startup processes when I found something interesting. Apparently IAIT always installs the RHIT Group Policies. This makes sense as they use a standard images on all machines. However, this means that if you want to analyze the group policy settings, you can see where they are:

\\ms.rose-hulman.edu\SysVol\ms.rose-hulman.edu\Policies\{9A043A4E-60BE-4663-8654-00D6D2B004FB}\Machine

It is somewhat interesting to note that the startup processes are batch files that call Visual Basic scripts. It is also interesting to note that I was unable to access the VB scripts (they are stored in a $ share on tibia that apparently I do not have rights to access). This leads to a few interesting questions:

1. What do these scripts do? Their names are only vaguely enlightening as to their purposes.
2. Why do they use VB script rather than standard batch command processing?
3. Why am I unable to access the files? Does this mean that they cannot be executed on startup?
4. What are all the other policies under \\ms.rose-hulman.edu\SysVol\ms.rose-hulman.edu\Policies for?
5. Why are \\ms.rose-hulman.edu\SysVol\ms.rose-hulman.edu\scripts and its contents readable to anyone with a valid login?

Myspace
Yeah, so I just went through everyone who was listed at myspace as either a current student at Rose or a former student at AHS. I added all the people who I would consider "friends." I should probably have spent this time doing something useful...

Trace Memory
So yeah, earlier this week I purchased a Nintendo DS. The first game I got was Trace Memory. It was awesome because there was a puzzled that I just solved that required me to close the DS's lid. Basically, there was something that need to be smashed and I had something to smash with. How does one smash something on the bottom screen? By closing the top screen on it.

Genius.

Yeah, so I got back a couple of tests this week. Firstly, I got back my Quantum Mechanics test on Thursday. It had been a take-home exam that was rather difficult due to the fact that we had never had homework on the material. Nevertheless, I got a 90 on it which is sufficient.

Yesterday, I took a test in Disco II. I thought that I had done quite poorly; however, due to brute forcing each question on the exam, I instead came only one point shy of a perfect score. I found this quite unexpected, yet pleasing nonetheless.

Currently, I'm playing Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I am irritated by their taking away of the radar, but otherwise it is fun.

Yeah, so I just beat the alternate game in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. I had a total play time of just under 6 hours. I was level 37 when I beat it. Despite the fact that the second campaign (Reverse/Rebirth) is much shorter than the first, I found it more compelling. Also, since there was very little to do in terms of deck management (i.e., nothing), the game itself was more enjoyable. Overall, good fun.

Found an odd bug in Xanga today. If you have a premium account (or in my case a forced Premium trial), it turns the classic account post page into a redirect page. This causes some odd results. Most notably, it causes Crosspost to fail. Damn you Xanga.

Yeah, so I beat Sora's game in Kindom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Now I need to go through the second half of the game as a different (and spoilerific) character.

In other news, I recently find myself quite lonely. I am not particularly happy about this situation but have little that I can do about it. My frustration seems to currently manifesting itself as an incredibly short temper. I fear that it shall grow worse before it becomes better.

Well, I have to run my Mage game quite soon, so I think I shall stop whining.

SGA President?
So yeah, I'm going to run for president of the Student Government Association here at Rose. I'm attempting to find a less than blatant way of saying that I should be elected because all of the previous SGA heads were inept and that I am not. Currently, when asked "What made you decide to run for the position you are seeking (president)?" I answer:

The ineptitude of current and past SGA administrations encouraged me to attempt to bring competent leadership to the body.

Of course, this is a strong statement. I want the statement to be strong so that it adequately reflects how I feel about the issue. However, I fear that this statement may just be strong enough to discourage some of the population. Any help on softening the statement while still retaining the sentiment would be useful.

Crosspost
So yeah, I found this new toy called Crosspost. It allows you to create one post and post it to a Blogger blog, livejournal, MySpace, and Xanga. As such, I have created the obligatory accounts in mysace and xanga.
